Early Childhood Health

Getting a healthy start—physically, socially, and mentally—improves a child’s chance of succeeding later in life. Working with children, their families, communities, early childhood educators, and policy makers/administrators, EDC develops resources, conducts research, and advocates for policies that will improve the lives of young children.

Children Left in Cars

Many deaths of young children in parked motor vehicles can be prevented, according to a recent EDC study. Such steps as keeping unoccupied cars locked, educating parents, implementing informed child care transportation policies, passing relevant laws, and working with auto and child safety seat manufacturers to build in warnings and other design features are effective, the study says.
