Urban Special Education Leadership Collaborative
The nation’s big city schools face common challenges as they work to reform their special education programs. The Urban Special Education Leadership Collaborative brings together special and general education leaders from urban schools to identify shared problems and improve student outcomes. The Collaborative provides opportunities for educators to network with colleagues; stay abreast of the latest in policy, research, and practice; participate in leadership and management training; and obtain personalized technical assistance and on-site training and consultation.
The National Dropout Prevention Center for Students with Disabilities (NDPC-SD)
Students with disabilities post some of the highest drop-out rates in the country, hampering their opportunities for meaningful and productive work in the future. NDPC-SD supports states and local education agencies in decreasing dropout rates and improving school outcomes for students with disabilities.
ICARE Schools: A Research Study of Meaningful Parent Involvement in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) Process
Parents of students with disabilities have to be fulltime advocates for their children at school, ensuring they receive a meaningful and challenging educational program. This can be a tall order for parents, particularly those from traditionally marginalized backgrounds. Addressing this challenge, ICARE Schools is identifying and studying middle-grades schools that successfully engage families of students with disabilities in the education process, in order to share their lessons broadly.
