Mathematics Curricula for Students
EDC creates mathematics curriculum materials for all grade levels. Many of our products are produced in partnership with major educational publishers and used in school districts throughout the country. The mathematics curricula created by EDC emphasizes problem solving, communicating about mathematics, making connections among mathematical ideas, and engaging all students in challenging mathematics. EDC has also developed a number of resources, including Web sites and print materials, that help educators select and implement curricula that meet high standards of rigor and address the needs of all students.

Math Workshop
|
In partnership with the National Science Foundation and Harcourt Publishing, EDC is developing an elementary school mathematics curriculum that draws on the best of traditional and reform teaching methods. Developers assert that teachers and students should not have to choose between
"drill and practice" and
"conceptual" math: they need both. The curriculum, a new edition of Math Workshop, introduces core mathematical concepts and makes those concepts concrete with number games and physical representations.

Impact Mathematics |
Impact Mathematics, developed by Glencoe/McGraw-Hill Education and EDC, is a comprehensive, standards-based program that takes a developmental approach to teaching algebra over the three years of middle school. The New York City Department of Education recently adopted Impact as its middle school mathematics curriculum in part because of the unique way in which it combines basic skills instruction with conceptual understanding.
