Suicide Prevention
Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States.
A total of 29,350 people died from suicide in 2000. EDC conducts
several initiatives that focus on suicide prevention, including
two national networks. In addition, EDC staff have produced several
compilations of material about the problem, sources of information,
and promising prevention strategies

National Suicide Prevention Resource Center
|
This Center provides technical assistance, training, a digital
library, and downloadable materials to strengthen prevention
efforts. The center focuses on “best practices”and
provides prevention support, training, and informational
materials.

National Center for Suicide Prevention Training
|
Educational resources are available through this center
to help public officials, service providers, and community-based
coalitions develop effective suicide prevention programs
and policies. Explore the three online courses and review

|
Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young
people 15-24.This EDC-developed PowerPoint presentation outlines
the scope of the problem, risk factors, and the public health
