EDC Elects William MacArthur to Board of Trustees

Developer focuses philanthropy in the Philippines, Madagascar, India, and Tibet


Boston, MA— William MacArthur, founder and President of the Florida-based Brooksville Development Corporation, which develops real estate in the United States and Southeast Asia, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC). EDC, celebrating its 50th year, is a global nonprofit organization that advances solutions to some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic development.

MacArthur, who is active in social development programs and philanthropy in the Philippines, Madagascar, India, and Tibet, serves on several nonprofit boards including the board of directors of the African Medical and Research Foundation U.S.A. Before starting Brooksville in 1982, Mr. MacArthur established the Trans-Arabian Investment Bank in Bahrain and founded the New York-based investment company Transar Capital Corporation to handle investments from the Middle East in the U.S. His diverse background includes practicing law on Wall Street and in Tokyo and teaching in the Philippines.
