EDC Celebrates the Achievements of Mae Jemison

In 1992, Mae Jemison became the first African American woman to travel to space, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations. As a physician, engineer, dancer, and NASA astronaut, Jemison’s journey shows what’s possible with support, resilience, and determination.

This Black History Month, we celebrate and honor Jemison’s achievements, as well as her advocacy for diversity and inclusion in STEM fields. Her story can encourage and inspire young girls everywhere to dream big and pursue their interests in the arts, science, and technology.
