Effective public policy is grounded in evidence and informed by experience. EDC helps decision-makers and government partners use data to create education, health, and economic policies that improve lives.

EDC’s work has informed public health legislation in the United States and inspired the creation of education policies that have helped millions of young people learn to read globally. We drive policy development through expert testimony on STEM education, early and basic education, substance misuse and mental health, and workforce development.

EDC also works with legislators, ministries, practitioners, and community stakeholders to anticipate and resolve the micro- and macro-level challenges that often stand in the way of implementing effective public policy. We participate in advocacy groups, including the Basic Education Coalition, the STEM Education Coalition, and the Alliance for International Youth Development, to support the advancement of effective public policies.

Whether conducting research that informs health and education policy in the United States or collaborating with governments to reform teacher training and credentialing policies overseas, EDC supports the advancement of public policies that prioritize evidence and equity.

EDC’s policy work is supported by public and private funders, including the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of Education, the Mastercard Foundation, Heising-Simons Foundation, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
