EDC to Cosponsor 2018 Carnegie Summit

EDC will cosponsor the annual Carnegie Foundation Summit on Improvement in Education, a three-day event that draws hundreds of educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and policymakers. The summit will be held April 3–5 in San Francisco.

EDC staff attending the summit will present research posters that highlight education reform models based on proven improvement science methods:

• Eliza Fabillar and Anne Wang will present on the use of continuous improvement practices to support systems change. With a focus on improving education equity, the presentation is based upon their research of student-centered learning practices in several New England districts.
• Mary Mackrain and Robert O’Connor will present on the continuous quality improvement methods used to make a federal home visiting program more effective. The program, conducted by EDC and funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, works to ensure at-risk pregnant mothers and families have the resources to raise healthy children who are ready to learn.

“We are very much looking forward to taking part in the Carnegie Summit and learning from our colleagues and partners in improvement science,” said EDC’s Cindy Taylor, director of the U.S. Division. “We will share EDC’s experience and research into what works, and we plan to come away with new ideas for reaching our mutual goal of closing the achievement gap.”
