Wendy Rivenburgh, an expert in project-based learning, media literacy, and civics education, empowers learners through inquiry and community engagement, with an emphasis on cultivating youth voice. Highly experienced in strategic communications and engagement, she specializes in instructional design and leads online and face-to-face professional development for teachers and after-school educators.
Rivenburgh manages curriculum development and outreach for Supporting Readiness through Vital Civic Empowerment (SRVCE), a pilot program funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. SRVCE blends inquiry-based civic learning, media literacy education, and exploration of public service careers to prepare students to be active citizens and thrive in the workforce.
Among her expansive body of work, Rivenburgh provided civics and media literacy training for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and designed a youth media curriculum for Adobe Youth Voices. She also serves on the steering committee of the Massachusetts Civic Learning Coalition. Previous to EDC, she taught English courses at the high school and college levels.
Rivenburgh holds a BA in English from Middlebury College and an MA in English from Boston College.
