EDC Talks: Making Time for Family Math

Kristen Reed shares some fun, easy math activities to do at home.

As a parent and math educator, Kristen Reed has some ideas for parents who want to promote mathematical literacy in the early years.

Match socks and sort laundry. Count objects around the house. Play games such as UNO, Connect Four, and Crazy Eights. These activities are all examples of “family math,” and they can help children build mathematical skills and habits that last a lifetime.

In this video, Reed discusses why families should make time for math and offers parents and caregivers some quick, fun activities.
