EDC international development specialist Gustavo Payan has been selected for the Edward S. Mason Program, the flagship international program of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Payan will join other leaders from developing, newly industrialized, and transitional economy countries for an intensive one-year leadership program focused on urgent challenges around the world.
Born in Mexico, Payan is an impassioned advocate for youth violence prevention, with extensive experience in youth and workforce development programming in Central America, Eastern Europe, and the Philippines. He currently directs EDC’s USAID-funded Proyecto METAS skills training program in Honduras.
Payan earned an MA in sustainable international development from Brandeis University. He is due to begin the Mason Fellowship in June 2016 and will earn a mid-career Masters in Public Administration as a result of the program.
