Amy Bruins is an experienced implementer of international development and humanitarian assistance programs. During her career, she has focused on the areas of food security, protection, health and nutrition, governance, monitoring and evaluation, and gender. She is skilled in capacity building, contract compliance and oversight, and process and systems improvement.
Bruins is EDC’s chief of party for USAID’s Inclusive Development and Equitable Assistance Leader with Associate Award. She provides overall leadership and technical direction for the project, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and partners and achieving impact.
Bruins’s previous work includes implementing awards from the U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID), UNICEF, ECHO, the U.S. Department of State, the United States Department of Agriculture, and corporate donors.
Bruins has a Juris Doctorate and an MA degree in International Human Rights from the University of Denver, a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Harvard University. She has worked in Afghanistan, the Bahamas, Bosnia, Liberia, Myanmar, and Tanzania and has advanced language skills in Kiswahili and intermediate skills in French.
