Ellyson Stout, a public health expert and senior project director, specializes in suicide prevention, social marketing, and health promotion with diverse populations. As the U.S. director for community suicide prevention at EDC, she leads teams of subject matter experts working with states and communities to advance EDC’s Community-Led Suicide Prevention framework.
Stout also directs EDC’s work on the SAMHSA 988 Communication Support contract, drawing on expertise in strategic partner engagement, effective communication, and event design to build alliances with new sectors to spread the word about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. She regularly presents on suicide prevention, serves on national advisory groups and expert panels, and has co-authored articles in the Journal of Primary Prevention and the Journal of Rural Mental Health.
Stout has over 25 years of experience in public health, strategic prevention, and community engagement. Before joining EDC, she worked domestically and internationally in HIV/AIDS prevention, maternal and child health, and immigrant and refugee health.
Stout holds an MS in Health Communication from Tufts University School of Medicine and is an Albert Schweitzer Fellow.
