Janelle Clay is a senior research associate at EDC with expertise in mixed-methods research and critical quantitative approaches. She has conducted research and evaluation studies focused on early childhood education, K–12 education, college and career readiness, and workforce development. She is particularly interested in using research evidence to expand equitable access to high-quality supports and interventions.
As a member of the REL Northeast & Islands at EDC team, Clay builds the capacity of educators and policymakers to use research to make evidence-based decisions. Previously, she examined postsecondary access and success initiatives at DVP-Praxis.
Clay has published book chapters (e.g., Handbook on the Science of Early Literacy) and monographs (e.g., Serving Native Students with Holistic Student Supports). She frequently presents at the national conferences of the American Educational Research Association and the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness.
Clay holds a PhD in Educational Policy Studies and an MS in Urban Policy Studies from Georgia State University. She received a BA in Political Science from Emory University.
