Naomi Hupert, a senior research scientist and expert in K–12 literacy and digital learning, leads the Center for Children & Technology at EDC. For over 25 years, her research has identified effective strategies to address opportunity gaps and improve the quality and equity of pre-K–12 education. Her studies deepen understanding of how educational media and technology can enhance learning. Her work also seeks to respond to urgent challenges (e.g., climate change education, the need to better serve youth from economically disenfranchised communities and youth with disabilities).
For 17 years, Hupert has conducted research on the Ready To Learn program, including a recent study on informational text. Drawing on expertise in quantitative and qualitative research and formative and summative program evaluation, she provides usable, real-time findings focused on improving student outcomes.
A widely published author, Hupert’s findings and insights appear in numerous outlets, including Education Week, EdSurge, K–12 Dive, Edutopia, and WBHM Public Radio.
Hupert holds an MSEd, with a specialization in Literacy and Language-Related Learning Disabilities, from the Bank Street College of Education.
