WyKisha McKinney, EDC senior project associate, is a national expert in mental health promotion and suicide prevention. A highly skilled leader and dedicated advocate and spokesperson, she brings over 20 years of experience in nonprofit program development, program management, evaluation, public speaking, and consultation. She specializes in influencing systemic change and breaking down the stigma of suicide through outreach and education.
McKinney is a key member of the EDC Solutions and Zero Suicide Institute at EDC teams. Recently, she served as an advisor for EDC’s Community-Led Suicide Prevention toolkit. For the toolkit, she shared her expertise on the vital role of partnerships and how to move from suicide prevention awareness to action.
McKinney is a published author and has been featured in several documentaries, television interviews, books, and other publications. She has served as the board chair of the Southeast Texas Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
McKinney holds an MNM from Regis University, a BA in Organizational Management from Ashford University, and a BS in Sociology from the University of Houston.
